SU Meetings

SU Meetings

The SU runs a range of meetings, bringing together all the Elected Members of the Union to share updates, tackle the issues the Union faces, and plan for the future.

Meetings in the SU can be broadly divided into two categories:

General Meetings - any student can attend these meetings, speak and vote. General Meetings include:

  • Annual General Meetings - these are the Union's yearly major meeting. AGMs are where major projects are discussed, annual documents (like the Union's financial accounts, affiliations and changes to the Constitution and Bylaws) are presented and reviewed, and the Elected Members are appraised and held to account.

  • Union Progress Meetings - these monthly meetings put the SU Exec together with representatives from societies and the wider student body. These meetings are where Exec will work directly with the student body to discuss the Union's ongoing projects, work with societies to help with any issues they face, and collaborate on major projects and upcoming events.

Defined Committee Meetings - these meetings are for specific groups and issues. While any student can still attend, you would need to contact the Meeting Chair beforehand, and wouldn't be able to vote. Defined Committee Meetings include:

  • Executive Zone Meetings - these are the fortnightly meetings held within Exec, where each Zone will meet to discuss their ongoing projects, tackle the responsibilities that they share as a Zone, and support the work of each individual Office.

  • Senate Meetings - these are the monthly meetings of the Year Representatives, where issues facing the student body can be raised, discussed and improved. It's also where the Exec's Representation Officers will gather feedback from the Year Reps, to take to General Meetings for presentation to a wider body.

All students will be informed of upcoming General Meetings. A calendar for each meeting can be found on the pages linked above - if you want to attend a Defined Committee Meeting, all you need to do is email the person who is listed as chairing that meeting.
