Welcome to the SGUL First Aid Society

The First Aid Society gives students the opportunity to learn first aid through awareness sessions and volunteering. We meet every Tuesday @ 6:30pm and hold regular fundraising events and social nights.

We are a St John Ambulance Student Volunteering unit that provides first aid cover at public events across London as well as at SU and society events at St George's. St John Ambulance is the UK’s leading first aid charity, teaching over 400,000 people first aid every year.

Volunteer first aiders can progress to becoming advance first aiders, emergency/non-emergency volunteer ambulance crews, cycle responders or medical response teams. If this peaks your interest visit our Instagram page or email us for more information.

Skill Levels

Within St John Ambulance there are five levels of medical training. These are delivered in through what we call Integrated Training Package or ITP. Each level has a number of requirements such as specified training courses, completing duties or certain tasks, and attending unit meetings. New members start from the begining by becoming 'Trainee First Aider' and work their way up the levels; all levels must be done in order and cannot be skipped. Transfer members from other units will slot into the nearest equivalent London level. Once you reach a given level you may be rewarded with your own personal issue uniform and equipment.
