SGUL Tamil Society aims to bring together both Tamils and non-Tamils to celebrate a rich culture and heritage that comes with being Tamil. With the help of our dedicated members and committee, we hope to make Tamil Society a fun and enjoyable experience for all.
We aim to nurture a growing togetherness amongst the society members, and to be part of a budding family. We host many socials during the year which will help you to make lifelong friends and give you a well-deserved break from your lectures during the day. We work with other Tamil societies in the UK to deliver huge collaborative events, with money raised going to various charities. We also believe that it is important to teach the Tamil diaspora about their ancestry and history – we aim to do this by holding talks and bringing speakers into SGUL.
We organise Mutton rolls, Tamil movies, Gaana dance classes and many more…you definitely do not want to miss out!
Our netball team reached the quarter-final of the Legacy tournament
Our rounders team came 2nd in a rounders tournament hosted by SGUL Paksoc
We held a successful Meet and Greet at the start of the year – known to be the best of its kind!
We have football, rounders and netball teams, who regularly play in the Legacy league and Legacy tournament. There will be regular netball and football training sessions, but the day, location and time will be confirmed on a weekly basis. Try and sign up to these clubs during our fresher’s fayre, meet and greet, or ask either the football or netball rep.
If you have any questions regarding the society, feel free to drop us an email or ask any of the committee members who will be happy to help. Visit our social media pages for more information about the society and details of our events.
We look forward to meeting you!
