Rag Week

It’s Raising & Giving (RAG) Week at St George’s!

(well, almost)

What is it?
Raising & Giving (RAG) Week is our chance to give back to the community. Between 13-17 Feb, your Students’ Union will be hosting several FUNdraising events for you to get involved in. Our aim? We want to raise as much money as possible in support of 'St George's Hospital Charity'.

How can I help?
Attend our 'RAG Week' events! No really, it's that simple. Not only will you be helping out a great cause, but you'll also have fun doing it!

What events are on?
We've compiled a little events calendar for you. Scroll down and you'll see everything that we've got coming up.

WHO WE'RE HELPING

St George's Hospital Charity

Who we are:
We are the official charity of St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. At St George's Hospital Charity our mission is to enhance the experience of patients, families, staff and the wider community served by St George's Trust.

What we do:
We work in partnership with St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, St George’s, University of London and our local community to fund major improvements to hospital facilities, research and medical equipment, schemes that make a real difference to the experience of patients, families and staff, as well as projects within the community that support the reduction of health inequalities and preventable hospital admissions. We raise funds through people getting involved in various challenge events, including marathons and bike rides, community groups, businesses and schools raising money and generous donations from the local community, families and past patients.

Current focus/appeal you SGUL are supporting:
The current focus of St George’s Hospital Charity is raising £5m to support the renovation and transformation of St George’s Hospital’s children’s wards and PICU. Built in the 70s, our wards are tired, cramped and uninviting. Lacking space, our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) urgently needs more beds, despite our staff having given up their changing facilities and staff rooms to make way for more beds already. Your support will help us to contribute towards the cost of:
•    Expanding our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, adding four more beds and space for families
•    Transforming our tired children’s wards
•    Providing better facilities for our staff, so they have somewhere to rest and can feel proud of where they work
