Hi! My name's George and I'm your VP Education & Welfare for 2021/22
Before I was elected to this role I was a second year medical student, President of Pride Society, Social Sec of the Boat Club, and one of the 2020/21 Equality and Diversity (E&D) officers. Over the last two years I have really found a home here at St George’s and am excited to be a part of the SU sabbatical team and give something back.
This year we hope to really bring back that sense of George’s community and I will be here to support students on all welfare and educational issues. Some of my manifesto points covered issues such as:
-
Developing the SU’s Black History Month campaign
-
Helping to further integrate postgraduate students into our community
-
Working to help the University implement its Race Equality Review
-
Working with religious and cultural societies to celebrate and educate about major events and festivals
-
Ensuring our welfare support is meeting the needs and expectations of students
-
Continuing to support students affected by Covid directly and indirectly
-
Helping to support and develop our welfare support groups, SPACE and Pride Society
-
Ensuring information from the SU is accessible for all students
I cannot wait to meet more students and learn about what other issues are important to them. If you ever want to reach me please feel free to email me at: vpeducation@su.sgul.ac.uk or pop into the SU office for a chat!
