Hi, we are Oma & Ashley and we’re your Equality & Diversity Officers for 2022/23
We are studying Medicine and Biomedical Science respectively and are both in our third year of our courses. We are truly honoured to have been elected for this role, which carries a lot of responsibility, in making sure that equality, diversity and inclusion are an integral part of the University.
Being black women, we have experienced first-hand the effects that lack of diversity and inclusion can have on our experience in educational institutions, and we are very dedicated in making sure that every student’s voice is heard and acknowledged, irrespective of the factors that society has weaponised against people to exclude them.
We cannot wait to work with other members of the SU and the University community in achieving our aims in order to make St George’s a more inclusive and equal place for all students.
