Teddy Bear Hospital
Teddy Bear Hospital is a national society that aims to alleviate childhood anxieties surrounding medical environments. Here at the St George’s branch we have over 600 healthcare students volunteering with us to run free clinics for local schools and organisations.
Each clinic comprises of a number of stations that focuses on various aspects of health such as X-rays, vital signs and first aid. All stations have been designed to provide hands on teaching that will give children a greater understanding of healthcare and reduce any associated fears.
At the end of our clinics each child becomes a mini Teddy Doctor and is awarded a certificate by our very own Mr Teddy! We also encourage volunteers to bring their own teddy with them so they can learn too and our volunteers are always on hand to cure any poorly soft toys!
If you are interested in getting involved we would love to hear from you. Please email us or visit our social media pages for more information.
We run clinics every week that volunteers can sign up to through our online link. These are mostly on Wednesday afternoons but occasionally run on other weekdays in the afternoons.
