Antimicrobial Awareness Day 2017

Book your FREE ticket to attend the 2017 Antimicrobial Awareness day seminar! Currently planned topics are: GUM, Primary care, Resistant TB, Prescribing, Grey Book antibiotics, and Sepsis.

Our guests are: Professor Laura Serrant – Professor of nursing at Sheffield Hallam University, Dr Sarah Vince – A&E Consultant, Professor Nicola Phillips – Professor of Physiotherapy at Cardiff University and Ms George Lee – Designer and co-founder of Age of No Retirement.

YOGA

Always wanted to try yoga? Join the SGUL Yoga Society for our Free Class and Social on Tuesday the 14th of November 2017. We will be running a free yoga class at 6pm in Rob Lowe, and a social afterwards in the SU. 

Booking is essential! There are a limited number of places in the class, so email us on yogasocsgul@gmail.com to book your place. We will also be providing some snacks in the bar at our social at 7pm. All members old, new and future are welcome to join.

SGUL Student Minds Meet and Greet

Students Minds are doing an event to promote good mental health which includes a talk by the Counselling Services, Free Food and various board games that could be played through the night. This event is FREE with the option of paying for a subscription.

Laboratory Tours - National Pathology week 

Ever wonder what happens to a sample once it reaches the pathology laboratory? Come and find out! South West London Pathology is hosting guided laboratory tours as part of National Pathology Week, giving you the opportunity to find out what happens to a sample once it arrives at the laboratory at St George's and how results are produced.
 
To book a ticket (4 dates available next week), visit the Eventbrite page to register for a 40 minute tour slot (20 minutes in each laboratory) to see our state-of-the-art biochemistry and microbiology laboratories. This event is for St George's staff and St George's, University medical students.

Main Musical Auditions

St George's Musical Society would like to invite you to AUDITION for our March production of CABARET! 




Cabaret is a musical set in 1930s Berlin & is full of love, lust & drama. It is a fantastic opportunity for everyone - whether it is singing/ dancing/ acting you fancy, there are roles for each of these (don't worry, we can't really dance either - feel free to show us up!). It doesn't matter if you haven't set foot on stage before, we welcome everyone! 

AUDITION DATES: 20/21/23rd November 
AUDITION TIMES: 5:30pm (for a 6pm start) each day 

Dancing, singing & acting will be done separately in small groups on all 3 days (you only need to come once!)

Holdstock-Piahaud Essay Prize 2017

This is the eighth year of the Holdstock-Piachaud Essay Prize, set up to encourage students to explore the themes covered by the journal Medicine, Conflict and Survival, and in memory of Douglas Holdstock and Jack Piachaud who were for many years inspirational editors of the Journal.

Entries must not have been previously published elsewhere

Volunteer of the Month Award

No matter how big or small someone's contribution we want to recognize all the amazing charitable work that goes on within St. George's. There is also a £10 Amazon voucher prize for the winner each month, so get nominating! 

Any member of St. George's SU can nominate another student for the volunteer of the month award. It must be for any charitable work they have done within the context of a St. George's society or supported charity in that particular month. Fill in the application form and send it to the Community Projects Officers by the last day of each month, who will then decide on a winner. The email to send completed applications to is cpo@su.sgul.ac.uk
