IT'S VOTING WEEK!! Get your voices heard and vote! All you have to do is log on to the website, cast your vote under the elections section

(under the 'Get Involved' tab), agree to the T&Cs and number the candidates in order of preference (1 being most preferred).

If you are unsure of who you wish to vote for - have a read through the candidate's manifestos! Voting is open till 12pm on Friday 16th. Happy voting!

ELECTION SEASON - VOTING WEEK!

I'm gonna repeat this becuase it's important - VOTE VOTE VOTE! 

1. Log in (using your uni number and password)

2. Click on the "get involved" tab and then Elections!

3. Click on start voting.

4. Agree to the terms and conditions

5. Number the candidates according to preference (1 in the box being first preference) and don't forgot RON (Re-open Nominations) if you feel no candidate is suitable

Inclusion study happening at george's RIGHT NOW

Research is being conducted into an attainment gap between students of different ethnicities. We are currently recruiting students to participate in either focus groups or one on one interviews to collect their views on possible reasons behind this and their own experience at St Georges. If you are interested in participating in the study please send an email to inclusion@sgul.ac.uk for further details!

 

GRAD Ball 

It's time to graduate & celebrate!!!

This year we invite all you graduates to the beautiful Selsdon Park Hotel & Golf Club for an evening of celebration with your George's friends & family!

You will be welcome from 3pm onwards to enjoy the gorgeous gardens with games to while away the sunny afternoon! Alternatively join us at 6pm for a drinks reception followed by black tie dinner at 7pm. Then party the night away with us with til midnight in true George's spirit! A photobooth will be onhand to capture your memories and most fabulous poses.... 

Tickets are priced at £80.Tickets can be found via the SU website*. It is max 2 tickets per person.
Tickets include:
- drinks reception
- 3 course dinner (with half bottle wine)
- coach travel

Accommodation is available at the hotel for those who would like to relax a little longer and join us for breakfast! This is available to purchase separate to the event ticket. Information will be released in due course. 

Menu options will be available in due course and there will be vegetarian & halal options. There will also be non-alcoholic options at both the reception and at dinner.

Coach transport will also be available to and from the venue for those who opt not to stay overnight. It will leave from and return to St George's. Timings will be released sooner to the event. 

We hope to send you all off in style with one last great George's party! Looking forward to seeing you there!

MEDICAL SCHOOLS COUNCIL SURVEY

Medical Schools Council are inviting students to take part in a short survey exploring perceptions around different medical specialties - with a chance to win £350. Shift Learning has been commissioned to conduct some research to better understand perceptions around different medical specialties and where these might be formed. Details:

Part time Clinical Summariser required for 6-8 hours per week in a GP Surgery in Balham. The successful candidate will be required to summarise clinical records and enter clinical data onto patients’ medical records. Previous experience in EMIS Web will be an advantage.

A local resident is looking for someone to pick up her children from school at 16.20 and babysit them at her home until she gets back from work at 18.15 a couple of days a week.

Drug trial seeks healthy volunteers

Cardiologist Dr Bode Ensam is recruiting healthy volunteers to take part in a new research study conducted at St George's.

The study will look at how the cardiac drug Ajmaline acts on healthy subjects.

Participants will undergo comprehensive cardiac testing while taking the drug and a fee will be payable. 

If you are interested in taking part, please complete a short online confidential questionnaire which can be accessed here

Eligible candidates must be;

·Between the ages of 18-65                

·Free from any cardiac symptoms

·White Caucasian      

·Not on any cardiac medication

Fee of £100 for subjects accepted to the trial

Free TV Training This Summer

Following the horrific terror attacks in Manchester and London, WORLDbytes – The School of Citizen TV – run by the charity WORLDwrite, are providing a unique opportunity for young people to have their say on how we should respond. Filmed discussion programmes will include the meaning of tolerance, what people mean by British values and the government’s Prevent strategy.


16-25 year olds will get free part-time (mainly weekends, evenings or afternoons) training in all aspects of programme-making and produce programmes which make an impact. All participants will be credited and in the media world credits are currency.

Participants will have their say in front of the camera in filmed discussions with guest writers, lecturers and academics and behind the camera filming vox-pop interviews with the public. 

Everyone taking part will learn to use professional cameras and programme making essentials: sound, lighting, presenting skills, interview technique, research, promotion and more. 

No prior experience necessary. This offer is open to ALL and nobody will be turned away but spaces fill up fast and when we’re full, that’s it!
