For those of you who don't know Deborah Bowman, she is one of our most highly esteemed Medical Law and Ethics Lecturers here at George's.
Following from her previous role as Dean for Students she has kindly agreed to run an agony aunt style column for our newsletter.
Therefore... we would like to hear your 'agony aunt questions'! For confidentiality reasons we obviously would not be publishing names
in the response in the newsletter. Please send in your questions anonymously on the SU website at https://www.sgsu.org.uk/advice/wellbeing/askdq/
For all you aspiring medics, take a look at the advice Deborah had to give if you're thinking of taking a gap year:

Chance UK - become a volunteer
Our mentors commit to our programme for one year and spend 2-4 hours a week with their matched child. Together they enjoy fun activities designed to: increase the child’s self-esteem; teach the child new skills; and help the child to overcome their challenges so that they can imagine a better future. Our mentors come from a variety of backgrounds. No previous experience working with children is necessary as we provide comprehensive training. Mentors are supported throughout the mentoring year by a Chance UK Programme Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for students really wanting to give back and make a difference. Our volunteers also gain a plethora of transferable skills through mentoring and students can request a reference at the end of the mentoring year.
More information can be found at www.chanceuk.com/become-a-mentor.
