COVID-19 – Ongoing Students’ Union Response
The Students’ Union is responding to all the information we are receiving regarding COVID-19, and is making decisions based on this information, in collaboration with the University, as and when it is available. Obviously this is a complicated and rapidly developing situation, and the Union thanks you for your patience while we work on the situation.
In order to keep union members as up-to-date as possible with the current situation, this newspost will be updated with any changes to the Union as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Any major updates will be linked from social media channels, however there may be minor additions or changes made throughout the coming days and weeks.

Please note that, as we are all working off site, any calls to the SU will not be answered. If you need to speak to a member of the SU via phone, please email them and make arrangements.
Beth and Lon are both contactable via email. Welfare support sessions will not be taking place on site, however these can be arranged by email and will go ahead through alternative arrangements – please contact Lon (email@example.com) or Beth to discuss this further.
The welfare room is closed as part of the wider site closure. If you are an essential member of staff who is still working on site, and you require access to the welfare room, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss access arrangements.
The University counselling service is operating remotely - appointments can still be made via the email@example.com email address.
The Student Life Centre is still available remotely for practical needs. They can be contacted by email: firstname.lastname@example.org

If you require free condoms, there are many other locations in the area that supply these as part of the C-Card Scheme - please check https://youngandfree.org.uk/find-a-pickup-point/ to find your nearest provider.

If, for any reason, you require access to the SU, for instance to retrieve personal equipment, please email email@example.com to arrange collection.

General Union Access
All union space on the 2nd floor is currently closed - dance studios, music room, games room and the SU office will be shut to students until further notice.
The university site is shut to all but essential maintenance and research staff. No access to the university is permitted.
Shop & Bar
The SU Bar is currently closed. This includes both the bar’s trading activities and the seating area attached to the bar.
The SU Shop on the ground floor will be shut until further notice.
All society activities that usually take place on-site are suspended. If you have an event that was booked into a room on site (lecture theatres, board rooms, dance studios or teaching rooms), it will unfortunately not be able to go ahead. This includes any bookings outside the Library. This is following on from the University’s decisions to suspend teaching activities and Government guidelines for social distancing.
Following the Government's advice on 23rd March, no society activities should be taking place off-site that contravene the Government's updated social isolation policies - please visit https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus for the latest Government advice.
Due to interruption of trading activities and financial admin, some changes have been made to how club and society payments and claims are made - please check the full guidance for more information.
All BUCS activity (sporting and non-sporting) has been suspended for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year. Some events have been cancelled, while others have been postponed and are intended to run at a later date. Follow the link below to see which events have been cancelled.
All league and knockout fixtures have been cancelled, and relegation/promotion will be enacted based on the table standings up to Wednesday 18th March (with some caveats). If there are errors in any results on your score sheets, or if you feel you have any issues with the cancellation of upcoming fixtures, please contact VP Finance as soon as possible to raise this.

For any other leagues or competitions (including UH events), please discuss this with your team’s point of contact for that event.
All sports club training on site is suspended, including training in the Rob Lowe and the dance studios. As with the society guidance above, any club activities taking place off-site are also discouraged.
