The roles and responsibilities of the Media Officers can be seen in the list below:

Develop communication strategies with the approval of the Students Union Executive body to get information to students.

Work with Year Representatives to get information to the students.

Work with relevant Students Union officers (Events, Technical, RAG etc.) and Students’ Union Clubs and Societies to ensure good publicity for Students’ Union organised events, and to use all Union-approved forms of media to publicise all events.

Work with the relevant officers to ensure that information, in the form of posters, fliers and leaflets are distributed around the designated areas of the Union and Institution.

Work with the relevant persons in maintaining the Union website and updating relevant announcements on the website.

Support events and meetings organised by clubs and societies by working individually and with the relevant Elected Officers.

Work with the relevant officers in producing and distributing publicity for the Student’s Union Elections.

When necessary, work with relevant Institution staff in acquiring more space for advertising in the Institution.

To be the first point of contact for any external agency who wishes to raise awareness of a pertinent issue or campaign to the Students’ Union.

To work closely with the Vice President for Education and Welfare in determining the response of the Students’ Union to larger political, social and medical issues.

To work closely with the webmasters in the maintenance of the website, providing a level of content editing for submission to the webmasters to publish.

To be a member of the Communications Zone and Events Zone.
As of the 2014 AGM, the Media Officer role was increased to 4 roles to allow for the exciting new app arriving in August 2014, as well as the introduction of the distinct webmaster roles!
