Tennis is one of the fastest growing clubs at St Georges. If you are looking to keep fit, play some competitive tennis or just have fun and meet new people, the tennis club offers all that and more. Throughout the year we have unlimited access to a local tennis clubs with wonderful clay and hard courts.
While the club does enjoy playing its fair share of matches, if you are a beginner or have not played recently – there is no need to worry, we will be running social tennis sessions on Wednesday afternoons to suit everyone's standard. If going for silverware isn’t your thing we still have plenty to offer. Weekly socials, curry dinners and special events such as the Wimbledon AGM, Christmas dinner and going to the O2 arena to watch the ATP world finals is the best way to make friends and enjoy your time outside your studies. Being part of UH allows us opportunities to socialise with other medical schools and play matches against other universities in London, against alumni and battle universities outside London too. Lastly, a yearly tour trip with the team allows us to get to know one another better whilst having a great weekend outside London.
We participate in two competitve leagues (United Hospitals and London University Sports) and have enjoyed great successes in recent years. The ladies team won the UH trophy in 2016 and came 3rd in LUSL 2017 and 1st in 2018! Earlier this year, the men’s team were runners up in the UH Men’s League and the mixed doubles were runners up in the UH Mixed Doubles League.
Training sessions are held on Monday evenings from 5:30 pm and Wednesday afternoons from 2pm. Additional training sessions are agreed between members usually on weekends or other evenings.
View our social media pages for more information and details about our training sessions. We look forward to meeting you!
