What can we do for you and how can we help you throughout your time at St. George's?
If you can't find what you are looking for here, then drop in to the Students' Union office where we work under an open-door policy and any of the officers will be happy to be of assistance!
The SU office is located on the second floor of Hunter Wing, just next to the bar.
Please feel free to come in and talk to me (Natasha Lee; Vice President for Education & Welfare) about any issues you may have. I am here to provide confidential support on any matters you come in with, regardless how large or small you think they may be. If I cannot help you myself or if you want another contact I can also refer you to other sources of support and advice.
You can find me in my office, or you can contact me by e-mailing vpeducation@su.sgul.ac.uk, or calling 020 8725 0451 (internal ext. 0451)
Below is some information about the support offered here at St George's, some of the problems you may experience and where you can find help. More information on all of these can be found under the links on the right.

Who can you turn to in times of emotional need?
There are several avenues of support at SGUL; The Counselling Service, your personal tutor and the Vice President for Education & Welfare of the SU are just some of the people you can talk to.
Coming forward about an issue is really encouraged at St. George's and is not something to shy from, even if you're the sort of person who keeps everything to themselves, isn't used to speaking out about personal issues or fears repurcussions (so many of these are myths, just come and ask me!) and as a Students' Union we will do all we can to help in the short and long term.
If you want to speak to someone outside of George's, Nightline is a great confidential service, run by students for students. You can call them between 6pm-8am every night of term on 020 7631 0101 or email listening@nightline.org.uk

Your Personal Life
Students are not machines and every single one of you is dealing with a personal life. Sometimes that compliments your work life and sometimes things fall so out of balance you wonder at the last time you spoke to a friend, met someone for coffee, had a great night's sleep or even just thought about nothing for a minute!
We've got some advice on things like Sex, Love & Relationships and Religion as well as information on personal safety.
The important thing to remember is that you need to look after yourself, and protect time in which you can do what you want to do

Serious personal issues
If you encounter serious personal issues it might be a good idea to talk to someone from the University or seek help from any of the confidential services offered by SGUL or the SU. Registry, the SU, your personal tutor, your course directors, disability advisor (Roddy Slorach) and the counselling service are the people who can let you know where to seek help, or provide it themselves.
