Emergency Medicine Society
The Emergency Medicine Society aims to prepare and familiarise students with the most acute and time pressed scenarios that can occur in medicine. Together with preparing students for a career in the Emergency Department we also aim to familiarise all future medical professionals with potentially life saving protocols that have extensive utility in and out of the hospital setting.
Our major activity during the year 2019/2020 was the organisation of weekend ED shifts for all St George's students. This was possible thanks to the availability of the hospital's ED team.
We host monthly forums on an emergency medicine topic. Previous topics include severe facial trauma and military medicine. We also work closely with the EMS teams from other London medical schools to bring focussed learning opportunities and interesting talks to students. We aim to hold specific teaching sessions, workshops and training moulages on a semi-regular basis.
