Opportunities in Surgery (The St. George’s Surgical Society) has a distinguished history in the field of surgery.  Also known as 'ops in surgery', our remit as a society is to encourage and promote surgery as a career.  We aim to help you develop an interest in the field of surgery and acquire a set of skills and knowledge that will aid you in the future.

A career in surgery is becoming ever more competitive, thus we strive to make you aware of the current prospects of surgery in the country and how to tailor your CV accordingly.  Surgical societies are one of the best ways you can demonstrate your interest in a career in surgery while you are still a medical student.

Full membership costs £10 for one year, which includes:
  • Basic suturing workshop
  • Advanced suturing workshop
  • Free entry to all our talks and lectures
  • Discounted entry to all other events e.g. trauma conference, plastic surgery day, anatomy revision series
  • Priority sign up for workshops and events

Please join us online through the SU wesbite using the links at the bottom of this page.  You can also join as a standard member, which adds you to our mailing list to ensure you receive all the information on our events.  If you have any questions please email opsinsurgery@sgul.ac.uk.
