Postgraduate Fresher's Fayre was a huge success for us with nearly 40 people registering their interest! We didn't expect such an enthusiastic response and cannot wait to get everyone together for our first training sessions. Training will stop properly once the undergraduates have arrived but until then we suggest you get out and enjoy the incredible weather, get some cheeky miles in and enjoy your first few weeks at Geroges :) Training will start off with bike rides on Wednesday afternoons and route/distance/speed etc will be dictated by what the groups want to do. At the club we can cater for everyone from novices and those getting back into it after a long lay off, up to those looking to try some more advanced training including chaingangs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chain_gang_(cycling)), leadout trains (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cycling_sprinter#Sprinter_tactics) and the black art of time trialling. We're also trying to organise a variety of shared training with the swimming club, including open water swim sessions and possibly some land based training - mostly core work in the form of circuit training. On top of that, we'll be doing ABC of Triathlon Days where we'll explain as much as we possibly can to you and you can ask anything we miss. These sessions should be a great way to remove some of the mystery that (unnecessarily!) surrounds triathlon sometimes.
Until we start training, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll do our very best to get back to you asap.
