This Week/Next Week

Have you ever wanted to know what your SU Sabbatical Officers do on a week to week basis? Do you want to know about the steps we take to secure the best for your George's experience and the way we take your feedback forward? This is the place to come each week so see what we've been doing throughout the week and what we plan to get done the week after. This allows you to be involved in stuff that's happening right now in your SU and to hold us to account for the things we say we're getting done.

Happy New Year!

This Week (20th-24th January) we have:

  1. Been working closely with SGUL library and staff on the Library Refurbishment (Phase 3). Based on discussions with SU Senate and feedback, we are currently looking towards more group study spaces and layout which will allow 24/7 access.
  2. Started working with newly appointed members of staff; Jo Brown and Ben Harris, who are responsible for looking at student experience across the institution. Part of this incompasses evaluting the Year Representative System.
  3. Produces protocols for usage of the minibuses and after parties for the performing arts societies.
  4. Processed the HEFCE applications in order to distribute funding to our Community Projects.
  5. Attended a University of London Students' Union (ULU) meeting where th future of ULU was discussed.

Next Week (27th-31st January) we will:

  1. Finalise plans for the upcoming Raising and Giving (RAG) fortnight. We hope you get involved and help us raise money for charity!
  2. Be joined by Andy Kent, Dean for Education, and Pat Hughes, Dean for Staff and Students, at the Meet the Deans. This takes place on Wednesday 29th January, 1-2:30pm outside the library. Come along and voice your opinions and questions on the institution and your courses.
  3. Confirm room bookings up until Easter holiday at the next SU Council meeting (28th January). This will include booking the space outside the library.
  4. Attend the royal visit working group in preparation for the visit of a VIP!
